Lights! Camera! CoVideo!

Lighting makes all the difference when recording a video.  High-light, low-light and special effect lighting set the mood and tone of your message. Abundant natural light creates a warm and comfortable feeling while artificial light, fluorescent lights in particular,  have more blue tones and may alter skin coloring. In the CoVideo offices we supplement our overhead fluorescent lights with incandescent spot and table lighting.

Preview your videos to make sure there is sufficient light and make any necessary adjustments to your camera settings if room lighting is adequate. Cameras have varying capabilities of capturing light sources so the same room setting may appear lighter with one camera than another.

Spending a few minutes on lighting will put you at ease and help you deliver your message with confidence!

  1. Great tips Sheila, thanks! Your lighting looked real nice. Lots of bright, but diffused sunlight coming in through the windows and falling ON your face, not behind it! That’s the way to do it.

  2. Lorraine, we think Sheila always looks great! Seriously though, lighting is key to video quality. We can’t stresss that enough!

  3. Can Sheila’s videos be placed in our back office — with first frame availability?

  4. Trevor,
We haven’t made Sheila’s videos available for several reasons the most notable being they are created using widescreen. Nearly all of our customer templates are standard screen and the playback quality would be diminished. Our videos are designed to play automatically and would require some redesign to accommodate a first frame feature. You can use code to insert an image that displays before the video begins. If you are interested in that option for your videos contact Tech Support for assistance.
