Using video in Salesforce email

You may be thinking, what is video email? It’s the process of sending a video within an email. While the concept seems simple, the logistics have always made it a headache.

Before video email platforms existed, it was a lengthy process to record and send a video email. Typically, email providers like Gmail and Outlook place size limits on the files you send and receive. As a result, if you wanted to send a video you’d have to find some sort of workaround – like uploading it to video hosting site and sending a link. This process tends to be both inefficient and ineffective, especially when sending videos for business. Why? Recipients are always hesitant to click on links from unknown senders, and more often than not, your video message would get caught in spam filters.

However, video email platforms like Covideo have changed the way businesses record and send video emails. With Covideo, you can easily record, send, and track video messages. You have the ability to record your webcam, screen, or both, making it a frequently used tool amongst sales, marketing, customer service, and recruiting teams. With Covideo, you don’t need to worry about any of the heavy lifting – after you record your video, you can grab your video link and paste it into your email or text message. Covideo automatically embeds a video thumbnail in the body of the email – encouraging your recipients to click on and watch the video. When they do, they are redirected to a branded video landing page where your video is hosted.

Now, with our new integration with Salesforce, you can send email messages in seconds. Let’s dive in and see the value and benefits behind a Salesforce video email.

The value of Salesforce video email

There are many use cases for sending video in email. Video email marketing is becoming one of the most effective ways to engage your audience, but it’s also gaining traction in the sales and customer service industries. Sales teams use video for prospecting, follow ups, and thanks you messages, while customer service teams can send instructional videos or respond to customers that reach out. Video email adds a touch of personalization to your outreach and delivers your message as if you were in person. It’s the best of both worlds: you get the power of video with the convenience and flexibility of an email.

Covideo’s new integration will elevate not only your Salesforce email marketing, but all other forms of your communication and outreach. You can use Salesforce email tracking and Covideo analytics within the same platform. After sending a video, Covideo will automatically log emails in Salesforce. Learn more about the power of using Covideo in Salesforce email:

For example, have you ever wondered how to create email alerts in Salesforce so you know when someone’s opened and read your email? This data provides insight to better understand your audience and improve your video strategy.

Take a look at some of the features of video email in Salesforce:

  • Record and send new videos directly within Salesforce under contacts and leads.
  • Access your Covideo library and navigate between folders to add existing videos to emails in Salesforce.
  • Control and assign landing pages, calls-to-action and thumbnails before sending.
  • Covideos sent and viewed are automatically tracked as events under the activity tab.

Create an email template in Salesforce

Email templates are a great way to save your time and standardize the emails you and your team send to others. Templates you create in Salesforce are automatically private, but you can make them available for use by others!

Designing emails templates is simple in Salesforce. Click “New Email Template” and enter the new template’s name. Note that a template can be chosen only when the email you are composing has a corresponding “Related To” record. Click on this link to learn more about a new email template in Salesforce.

In the HTML Value field, you can design the email template that you’d like you and your team to use. The best part is you can add images and embed video in the Salesforce email template. Use the “Insert Images” icon or copy and paste your Covideo with the CRM code. Click the Merge icon and use the merge picker to insert merge fields. Click the Source icon to add HTML code. Add any attachments you want in the template. Once a template is saved, any content document links (Salesforce file links) are converted to content asset links. Don’t forget to click “Save.”

The best email templates have videos to help the sender stand out in the recipient’s crowded inbox. You can get more ideas for your Salesforce email templates by looking up email templates for Outlook and Gmail.
