Customer Video: Chuck Borba at Spend-A-Day Marina
Published Date: January 15, 2025

Selling boats and watercrafts is a blast, but sending out sales emails and trying to catch customers on the phone? Not so much. Luckily, marine dealerships have Covideo at their disposal to easily create personalized videos that build genuine relationships and break down barriers to a sale.
Take it from Sales Representative at Spend-A-Day Marina Chuck Borba. Chuck always uses Covideo to respond to leads. Through video, Chuck can fully convey the excitement he feels selling watercrafts. He doesn’t have to take the time to write up a long email or figure out what to say. His natural enthusiasm shines on camera, and he can easily send those videos to customers in no time.
Sometimes salespeople worry about being on camera, but Chuck encourages his peers to avoid the pursuit of perfection. He doesn’t worry about making mistakes in his videos because he’s not afraid of letting his humanity show. As a matter of fact, including any slip ups or stutters in his video makes him seem more approachable, and his customers really appreciate it.
Chuck explains his simple but effective process to make the most of incoming leads:
Note when an email comes in inquiring about a boat.
Record a short video introducing himself and showing off the boat features.
If they don’t pick up the phone, send them that video over text and email with details to get in touch.
Check the video stats to see how much someone is watching and when to plan follow-up.
The customer gets an inside look at the dealership and vehicle they’re interested in before seeing it in person, building excitement and increasing the chance they’ll come to the dealership to learn more.

VO: We’re super excited about this tool. I think it is literally, literally one of the best tools in our toolbox. Anyone that is not using it, I think that they’re out of their mind. You know, it’s like picking up a wrench when you’ve got an air tool you can get in the toolbox and use and just make the job so much better.
One of my favorite things with Covideo is just actually doing a video right here at my desk. I get a lead that comes in with an email description of the boat. We get to talk a little bit about the product. And instead of sending them a regular email or text message if they didn’t answer the phone, I like to send them a Covideo just to introduce myself, showing who I am and kind of breaking down that barrier a little bit. I like that human element in there; I like having a few slip ups in there. I feel like people can relate to that a little bit better.
Also, if you’re the person that, you know, you don’t like typing out an email, you don’t know what to say, use this tool! I mean, this shows the emotion; it shows you’re excited. I love when I get to talk to somebody about a new boat.
You can go around and take a video of it being pulled out of shrink wrap. I like to keep these videos to where they are truly the human element. I feel like that breaks some barriers down, breaks some walls down. I had a video the other day, and the people watched it ten different times. One guy said it was funny, so he just kept showing it to his dad.
